Thomas Edison Invents Phone, Squanders Oppurtunity

At the time the telephone was invented Thomas Edison realized that people would need to greet the person on the other line so that they would know that a connection has been established and communication could occur freely between the two parties.

Now Thomas Edison's arch-rival, Alexander Graham Bell was using Ahoy-hoy as a telephone greeting. For some reason Thomas Edison rejected it (idiot!).

Furthermore, when people were greeting each other on the streets, they were saying "hullo." For some misreable and God-forsaken reason Edison decided to butcher hullo and exclaim "hello" like an idiot when using the telephone.

Edison was a mighty inventor, but not of words. A wordsmith he was not.

Ahoy-hoy!
