Sambuca Drink

Sometime ago I, Capital_Prototype, and the Coffbird managed to create a drink that would make those type-2 diabetes having folk in Mississippi cringe at the thought of such sweetness, but we did it anway and it was delightful. The recipe is simple: 1 part sambuca and ice with 2-3 parts Dr. Pepper. You can't go wrong with such a simple combination. On the SAT they would ask "Rum is to Coke as what is to what?" and the answer would be "Sambuca is to DP". This brings me to my main point: the name. After all of these years we don't have a name for it. The best we called it was "Sambuca with Dr. Pepper". That just won't do. When I come up with names (and I do quite a bit), I like to become intimate with who or what I am giving a nickname to. After the coitus, I feel like I have some deeper understanding of the person/object and feel more confident in my naming. Anyway, Sambuca as a word just doesn't lend itself to being thrown into a cool name so that is out. Dr. Pepper is already cool and has many names. What does one do? If we think about what Sambuca is, we may get some ideas. Sambuca is an anise (think fennel seed) based liquor and I think that provides us with all we need for a name. I tossed around this the other day: "DP in my Anise". Of course, you may want to massage the pronunciation of anise a bit, but I thought it was funny. "Hey barkeep I want some DP in my Anise!". Anyway, do you have any better thoughts? The drink needs a name no doubt.

  1. Yeah, I love it. I was thinking Dr. Anise until you dominated with DP in my Anise.
