I hate interleague play. I have said before that they should eliminate it altogether, but because of rivalries(like the dud said), I know they can't. I had devised the perfect solution.
6 games of
chicago/chicago new york/new york washington/baltimore pits/cleveland philly/detroit (maybe switch these around a little) giants/oakland la/la houston/texas cards/royals(maybe, maybe push them in with the rest. But this was a good rivalry in the 80's when the royals beat the cardinals in the 85 world series).
i think i maybe added a few more, not sure.
The rest of the teams play one of the others for 6 games and those teams rotate every year.
That isn't all i wanted to say about this, but i figured this fit differently.
I have not looked at strength of schedule of interleague, but based off of what that guy said, I'm guessing the cubs had a realatively easy one.
It doesn't matter who you play, you have to win the games. Baseball schedules can never be fair because teams don't always play the same.
The cardinals got swept by the rockies early in the season at busch stadium when the rockies were playing real well, and the cardinals were not. If the rockies came to st. louis now, I bet the results would be much different.
The cubs downright suck. They sucked during interleague play, the sucked before it, and after it. The rockies sucked for the first 30 games. Why don't we just remove 30 games the cubs did bad for and 30 the rockies did good for and look at the standings. The playoff picture would be much different.
I hate the stupid fuck that wrote that article and he needs to realize the cubs were just not good this year.
and no. I think they could even out the regular season so the central doesn't play 7 games against everyone else. Make it an even number.
And we are all NL guys and are against the dh, but i am getting tired of pitchers who go up to the plate without any clue what they are doing. Marquis, Zambrano, and wainwright are solid hitters. Carpenter is terrible at it(but i forgive him). I'm excited to see Micah Owings come up as a young player that is feared at the plate(hit a pinch hit 3 run homer against the cardinals to take the lead in the 8th one time). I hope that more young pitchers come up knowing how to handle the bat.
Here is something that isn't "rocket science." NL Central Division has 6 teams, AL west has 4 teams. Move the Houston Astros from the NL central to the AL west. (Now every division has 5 teams.)
I agree Capital_Prototype on the last statement. I just think we should have more separation of the leagues. I also think the league championships should be more important. AL and NL baseball are different.

It sucks for cubs fans, but its the truth.
What if the American League would agree to get rid of the DH? Would you accept even more interleague playing?

ReplyDeleteMy comment wasn't about interleague play, it was just about improving the MLB.
ReplyDeleteMy comments were meant to be entirely separate ideas. Didn't mean to link you to my radical thoughts.
