Fantasy Outcome Predictors
If you look at the standings for our league, you will see that the major categories like Hits, Runs, RBIs, ERA, etc. were not the best predictors of success in the league. What is interesting is that fringe categories Ks, SBs, and Ws were all great predictors of the top five finishers. Of course, you can win ball games without Ks and a lot of the time a SB doesn't produce any more runs and we all know that Ws are nice, but aren't the best way to measure a pitcher's productivity. We will have to have fireside chats to discuss what we can do to fix this situation for possible future fantasies.

So true, I still say you should be able to weight the categories. I suggest eliminating the SB category.
ReplyDeleteWe may have to use a different provider next year that can allow us to weight the categories. I wasn't a big fan of the head to head matchups, but I think people enjoyed that aspect of play this year. We have a lot of things to fix for next year.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the stats that our league was set up with, and I drafted my offense off of that. That is why my offense was so successful this year(I drafted for sb's and obp because i could give up on slugging for the most part and it was only one category affected by that).
ReplyDeleteI made a few good mid season pickups that made my pitching above average(aaron cook, j.a. happ, randy wolf). I had the most quality starts this year by a lot, but my pitching never won which hurt me on win%). I dropped going after saves, and got an extra starter and part of the season only had one closer, with a real good setup man to get me holds. My set up man eventually became a closer, which is good because my closer was hurt half of the year.
Anyway. I don't really like fantasy sports and will probably be retiring for lack of interest.
I think we should all take a year off, but I would understand if you are hanging up your jersey for good.
