Ben Harper plays Voodoo Child live.
I do not believe that he is on anyone's list as the greatest guitarists of all time, but Rolling Stone named Kurt Cobaine number 12 of all time. They may as well just stopped printing articles about music after that.

This is the article Rob refers to. It is pretty ridiculous.

The big fat black bassist helped Ben Harper out though.
ReplyDeleteseriously though he was at lollapalooza the day i went, and I wanted to go see him, but he played on the opposite side of grant park from the two bands me and jessi went to see. He played for the hour between rise against and tool. We started walking that way, but got side lined by the 'craft' beer garden(shock top, michelobe, budwiser????). It was realitively far away too so we turned around to get a good spot for tool(who was awesome).
And are you telling me Kobain isn't on your top 12 list?
ReplyDeleteI'm not talking talent wise, but as far as being a 'guitar' player, he's atleast 12.(not serious).
Honestly the more I listen to nirvana the more i don't like them. I try not to listen at all anymore.
I like Nirvana although I never liked Smells Like Teen Spirit. I never got why they were so big.
ReplyDeleteI think Nirvana got big because they have a very angsty kind of feel/sound that plays well with youth. Also, I think that Kurt Cobain's death really helped their popularity.
ReplyDeleteI like Sublime, but I wouldn't claim Bradley Nowell to be in any kind of greatest guitar players list.
