My dream come true

I forgot to mention that I am on my company's softball team, which is a dream come true. I think so far on the season I am batting (avg/opb/slug) .625/.625/.625(5/8 with 5 singles, couple of runs and rbis, but not many).

Most of my hits have been line dives, but I have been getting under the ball a little bit, Including one deep blast to center, which was caught. It's a guy girl league with a soft 14 inch softball, which makes it hard to hit the ball with authority. Last week I almost killed the pitcher with a line drive that went under her non throwing arm and was by her before she flinched. We are 2-1 on the season, but in our loss we got shut down like 7-1, and I had 2 of our 5 hits. Our 4th game is tonight, weather permitting.

On a side note, I went to the batting cages the other day and there was a party of like 4 year olds there. I stepped into the slow pitch cage, and every time I hit the ball all of the kids(like 12 of them) where like WHOOAAA!!! It was the coolest thing ever, but then I tried to hit it harder and started getting under them again. It didn't matter cause they were impressed every time I swung.

  1. That is beautiful.

Query: how relevant is OBP in coed slow pitch softball?

  3. Capital - Actually real important because most of our girls can't hit at all so when guys make outs we can't score runs.

I went 0-2 last night. My first at bat I grounded sharply to short. My second at bat I worked a 3-2 count and with the pay off pitch on the way the umpire screamed illegal, which threw me off and I didn't know what to do. I could tell it was gonna land for a strike, so I started to swing then realized I hadn't done anything wrong yet, so I only half swung. After making contact, still really confused I jogged slowly to first and was called out on 6-2. Apparently illegal pitches are balls, but the batter can swing. Had I known the rules I would not have swung at it and been on second with 1 out(walking a guy is a two base penalty) instead of no one on with 2 outs.

we lost 10-0, and probably wouldn't had been shut out had I known the rules.

  4. Well then you need to up your OBP, no excuse for that (AVG = OBP).
