Windows 7 and Resulting Hardware Upgrade
So I am starting to realize that my old laptop, which is running very well for the tasks I require, is starting to show its age. Sometime after Windows 7 comes out I am thinking about purchasing a new desktop computer. Does anyone have a recomendation about specs or places to purchase computers in a year or two?

This would be a better question closer to when you buy it, but in a year or two you could probably get a really good computer for cheap as hell.
ReplyDeleteShit, you can right now, but with the demand for computer resources going down with 7, realistically you just need like 2 gigs of ram and a dual core processor. I keep debating getting 4 gigs for my laptop, but I counter with the fact that I never come close to using the 2 gigs I have, so having 4 would not speed up my system at all.
Not sure what I'm saying in this comment, but the one part of a desktop you don't want to go cheap on is the processor/motherboard combo. If you get a really good processor, you can upgrade the other parts of you computer and extend the usefulness of your pc.
It depends on the usage.
ReplyDeleteI trust you will be fine with the specs Steinberg described.
I will not go under 4GB of Ram for a laptop again and under 8GB for a desktop again.
Also, liquid cooling for a future desktop.
