Pujols to Angels

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/baseball/mlb/12/08/pujols.angels.ap/index.html?sct=mlb_t11_a0

This is a sad day for baseball even though it is sort of a good day for Cubs fans. I am torn because it seems to be yet another example of "Bud Selig era" baseball where a player signs a super unrealistic contract for an ungodly amount of money (in this case 10 years, $250 million). Baseball needs to wake up! No more tv blackouts, fix mlb.tv so I can watch the Diamondbacks and the Cubs. Reduce ticket prices! Can they structure contracts like the NFL? How about Pujols for $250 million, $150 million guaranteed over five years, with options for the next five years? What a damn risk. I guess I can't be mad at Pujols for taking the money and admitting he has no loyalty to the Cards and their fans (possible the best fans in Baseball) even though he has been with them forever and also went to hikes school in Missouri and oh yeah won two World Serials with the Cards to boot! Again, a sad day for baseball.

  1. tl;dr

It's perfect for Pujols. He can play first base til he sucks, and then he can be a DH. Never even thought of him going to the AL.
