I want a laptop with the following
all metal chasis
backlit keyboard
15" screen
4GB ram
anti glare screen
display port/hdmi connectivity
decent battery
optical drive
well thought out design
under $1500
Anything being made that fits this? Apple is close, but $1800 for a 15" laptop is a joke. $1200 for the 13" is much better, but it is too small.

My thoughts. You can probably find this easily. I wouldn't pay for an apple if I was you. This isn't your classic pc vs. apple chatter either. My work comp is an apple and I use that 40 hours a week. I use my windows 7 laptop at home maybe 2 hours a week and mostly for its abilities to play porn.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you going to use it for? To run a web browser? That's all I do with mine(besides "borrow" netflix movies). Realistically I couldn't imagine paying the apple tax unless you were an idiot and were prone to getting viurses(are you?). I would recommend against HP because I have had issues with their high end laptops.

That happened to Jessi's 1800 dollar HP laptop. Toshiba's seem pretty good for durability. If your going for more multimedia maybe sony. Their Vaio line has real good screens(atleast it used to).
With a 1500 dollar budget you should be able to get a real nice laptop. I configured a sony just now to be pretty sweet and it was 1000.
It is going to be my school/research work laptop. I just need it for productivity and for travel and conferences and such. I just haven't been able to find a good all metal windows laptop that has an optical drive while being somewhat "stylish". I will keep looking.
