The Day Moneyball Died?

http://joeposnanski.si.com/2010/06/16/the-day-moneyball-died/

This guy is right on some things, but wrong on many others. The major lesson of moneyball was to evaluate the game in a more scientific manner than it was being and to look at baseball from an economic standpoint. The undervalued assets of yesterday are not the same as the undervalued assets of today. Bill Beane may have a broner for the World Cup, but he is not dead; just reborn. If you want to see someone who aborted his moneyball before it even made it past the first trimester (morally sound at least), take a look at Sweet Lou. Fire everyone. The new owner seems like a dweeb. Len and Bob still rule. Is Carlos Silva the new Hank White?

  1. Okay, I don't see anything here besides Billy Beane likes soccer. Well, I wanted to talk about this anyway so great segue.

Once Moneyball came out, more and more quants were hired driving out a lot of the inefficiencies in the market. I know that Boston and Tampa Bay are extremely "Moneyball" centric and they have had great recent success. Also, obviously, moneyball tactics + money is greater than equal moneyball tactics + less money.
