MLB.com did not read Moneyball

I was looking at the fantasy rankings of the Cubs players and am just shocked to see how they have been rated. Bill James is probably laughing at these folks. Ryan Theriot more valuable than Ryan Dumpster? No thank you sir.

Olympic Hockey

I am all about Olympic hockey right now, but I am so upset with the program scheduling. Basically, it is scheduled to just get the matches over with.

US earned the top seed, yet they are constantly playing at 2pm, when everyone is at work. What the heck.

I watched the first period of Sweden and Slovakia, but then I went to bed. I just found out Slovakia upset Sweden 4-3. I really would have liked to see that game. The next games start Friday, and the US is playing at 2pm again, against Finland.

If US and Canada go to the Gold Final, which is highly realistic, then you need to watch out, things are going to go buck wild. (And the game is going to be played, again, at 2 pm, but at least on a Sunday.) Still, what the heck bros.

Go team USA!

Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in!

Hamburger.

And Canada is unleashing all the fury, oh my darn.

I want this job

NWS

Memories of now

I was taking a shart and was thinking about the politics/ social norms of sharting in public bathrooms. Some people seem to stop all of their sharting when someone else enters the room and others don't seem to mind at all. What kind of person are you?

Also, I haven't heard from you guys about the baseball weightings which is ok given how crazy things are in the life right now. I am hoping that we get two more people to join the league (we still have time). Perhaps Ricky Cox? Paul Husch (up to RyDub to contact him to gauge interest)? Harvoc? Jables? Just thoughts.

Also, I have been holding out on posting some updates because I didn't want to overwhelm you guys all at once, but this weekend I am finally going to post "The Pictorial Guide to Madness and Pack-Ratting: a tour of Sawsheezle's Apartment" (your welcome RyDub).

Three Dollar Bill Y'all

While I was on the Three Dollar Bill Y'all wikipedia page I stumbled upon this line.

The final song on the album, Everything, is actually just one big jam session that was recorded. Apparently the band was playing for an additional 15 minutes before they started recording.

Fucking badass.

I wish I had that other 15 minutes.

Great Album? Or Greatest Album?

Fantasy Draft

Are we going to have a live draft or are we going to rank players and run it through the draft simulator? I am not against draft simulating.

PS I think we should aim for 6 teams. I remember 4 just not being enough.

I think this will be it.

It is my boss's roommate's/boss's/boss's cousin's old bike.

Only 1000.

The League

I activated our league on ESPN.

We have the option to use a head to head most points format in which we face a team each week (people seem to like this) and who ever has the most points at the end wins. This is different than last year where who ever won the most categories won. We can weight the scoring in a points system.

For example, we can assign weights of 4, 3, 2, 1, 1,and 1 for HR, 3B, 2B, 1B, R, and RBI, respectively.

Wrigley North Brew Crew: week 1.
5 HR, 0 3B, 10 2B, 20 1B, 20 R, 10 RBI = 90 Points

Mechabonica Zoic Androids: week 1.
10 HR, 0 3B, 5 2B, 15 1B, 20R, 20 RBI = 105 Points

Mechabonica Zoic Androids win week 1!

This is just an example, but I think it demonstrates what Capital_Prototype wanted all along. I think we can do it this year if we can get a couple more people and we can decide on how to weight the categories.

Valentines Day Fantasy

Just a reminder that we need to start talking about fantasy baseball again. It is now in the 70s here on a daily basis and spring is in full bloom. I know Capital_Prototype has some life changing things going on right now so I can take charge if needed. I can activate our league on ESPN from last year if we want. Do we? I figure I will just to see if they have any new options or settings. It seems like that have at the least an aesthetics upgrade. Anyway in the coming days I would like use to really think about who we could get in the league as a fourth player. I don't see us having more than four people although I would like to have more.

Left Hand Fade To Black

Left Hand. Definition: someone's left hand. Something that is used to show retarded fools how to draw an L. L is for loser.

I know left hand has different implications for each of us, but for Capitol_Prototype and I it means one things: fucking milk stout that sucks.

That being said I did purchase an interesting looking beer a few weeks ago. It is called Fade to Black and it is by Left Hand brewery. I gave it a shot because it was cheap for a single bottle and I thought it looked cool. I began drinking it this evening. It is classified as a foreign stout on ratebeer. It is ok. Perhaps my hatred is fading.

I am going to keep drinking perhaps I will post something more provocative later.

Diablo II patch 1.13

It's only on the PTR but still. All you have to do is connect to the "Classic Beta" realm under Battle.net. One of the big features is the ability to respec, which i think is awesome. I'll be playing in the room "sawyer" with the password "ryan".

Renegades Pt. 1 Rolling Stones

Street Fighting Man by the Rolling Stones

This popular song almost had to be covered by Rage Against the Machine when reading the lyrics, which can be accessed here.

I think that Rage Against the Machine did a really good job with their cover. It updates the Rolling Stones classic and changes the sound to that gripping, "we are on the verge of a revolution" sound that Rage Against the Machine has almost perfected.

Here is the Rolling Stones original

And Rage Against the Machine's cover

Bowl Commersh

The NYT reports on what people have been saying for years, that any Joe Sixpack can make commercials.

However, my favorite advertisement was The Simpsons coke commercial.

Other than that, when that guy delivered a tiger cub.

Lastly, I absolutely loathed the Google advertisement.

No mention

I can't believe Rob or Sawyer hasn't brought this up: http://www.wainydays.com/ I haven't watched any episodes yet so I don't know if it's actually good or not, but I've heard it's as good as the "Stella Shorts."

Barney

I am actually offended by Barney Stinson's womanizing behavior on how i met your mother.

The Office

Jim Halpert: Sucks, not deserving of what he has
Pam Halpert: Sucks, no ambitiion
Michael Scott: Stupid, good soul
David Wallace: Rich, idiot, not in touch with middle america
Andy Bernard: everything I ever wanted to be in a human

Calibration

I'm about to calibrate my TV using an actual calibration video and filters. I will be writing down all my settings beforehand and comparing them to the values i get afterward.

UPDATE: OK. I'm no longer pissed at the calibration DVD. The only setting I can't seem to set right is Contrast.

Here are my before and after settings;
Contrast: +78, +50
Brightness: +58, +60
Color: +54, +56
Tint: 0, -6
Sharpness: (I read that sharpness makes no difference on HDTVs)

There are some other settings that my TV has like Color Temp, C.A.T.S., Video NR, MPEG NR, and Black Level. I left everything "off" and have Black Level on "light."

Quick note

On tonight's episode of The Office, Michael Scott and David Wallace were drinking Yuengling beer in the hot tub. Michael was drinking a Black & Tan, while David was drinking a Yuengling Light. I love the authenticity of the show. If you also look in the driver's side of the front windshield, you will notice the PA registration/emissions sticker. Love it.

Longevity and Random Musings

This started out as a much more ambitious post, but now I am simply asking when The Simpsons jumped the shark. What episode or season?

Stephen Colbert

I rented this audio book from the libary and it is funny. It is awesome that Colbert reads the book. This is the best audio book until Danny McBride releases the audio book from Eastbound and Down.

an eBook isn't a book.

New eBooks will cost $12.99-14.99 on the i(maxi)Pad. Why are people willing to spend this much for something that isn't real. I believe these people would be the same ones choosing to stay in the Matrix rather than be freed.
