Who cares who the Cubs new manager is or will be. Until they get a new general manager or someone who knows how to put a team together making the executory and managerial decisions without overpaying it doesn't matter who the skipper is, am I wrong?
Agreed. A manager's true job is not about knowing when to bunt (almost never) or where to bat the pitcher (8th has been shown to have a slight advantage), but to keep the team motivated. Manager has to keep all of the mental bugaboos out of the clubhouse and keep the team wanting to win. He therefore serves as a psychoanalyst/therapist. Being an analrapist will be the true job of the Cubs' next manager.
Batting the pitcher 8th has done more harm than good. Tell me how a team 9th in the majors by prospectus offense can't score any runs? Because the pitcher comes up to bat after the best hitters with 2 outs(or 1 and then brendan ryan comes up).
The GM needs to go. The cubs will suck as long as they have hendry(grabow anyone?)
