RyDub's Shave Blog: And the battle begun...

I asked for and received these for Christmas this year and I was very excited to begin my "official" adventure into DE shaving. So I decided to finally write my thoughts/observations about DE shaving.

DE shaving is just so much fun. You certainly should get into the mindset the day before you shave like Sawsheezle has said. It's kinda a chore, but a fun one. Takes some time too. I average around 20 minutes. I like to make 3 passes over my face. First one down, second one down to get any stragglers, then the third in different directions depending on spots where I know the grain grows differently.

Today was my third shave with these. The first went pretty well. Getting the soap to lather was definitely the hardest part. It just didn't seem to want to lather. I believe I wasn't getting enough water. The second time went better. Again, lathering being the issue. Too much water this time maybe. But this third one was amazing. Almost baby butt smooth. Not sure whether to attribute it to increasingly better techniques or to the razor blades that Sawsheezle let me have to test out. Either way it was awesome.

I had a plan for this post going into it, but it kinda fell apart. My second post will be much concise and logical.

Current Thoughts Watching this Weez

Weezer has some catchy tunes, granted, but for christ's sake get some energy/charisma/ somthing. For chissakes, you suck as entertainers. Least interesting, why even make a video or tour.

New Amp Day

I ordered a Blues Jr. in a limited edition "Western" (aka bronco) covering that I think looks pretty cool. I bought this to gain some experience in modding the circuit inside and especially soldering components. Here is a pic.

I think it looks pretty cool. I had been reading a lot about this hog on the web and one of the things I saw is that the reverb has a tendency to go out due to faulty design. One of the fixes is to resolder the wires inside the reverb pan. Sure enough, when I opened it out of the box and fired it up, there was no reverb. I went ahead and disassembled everything and took out the reverb pan and this is what I found.

As you can see there was one wire not connected. I soldered it back on with my really bad soldering iron and after I reassembled everything and fired the amp back on it worked like a charm. Expect more furs to come about modding this thing.

In unrelated news, I want to submit a review of the Galaxy Nexus camera: it kind of sucks. I will try more outdoors shots in the future.

¡Rob!

Rob Schneider is an obsessive-compulsive, colorblind, landscape architect who elopes with a tall much younger Mexican-American girl of super-model level beauty and while he has found love, he never realized it would come with such a zany familia...

Even better than the great Shit Girls Say (part one, two, and three in case you haven't seen these)

Early Days of Comedy Central

Came across this article today and thought it was really cool. I really don't remember any of these things until it gets down to VH1/CC sharing a channel (12 hours it would be VH1 then the next 12 would be CC) and Penn Jillette being the "voice of Comedy Central." Pretty cool read.

Modern Dating with Andy Daly

Not exactly cultivated from my experiences on the dating scene, but I wouldn't rule it out either.

Jay-Z and Beyonce ruining the world ...

Crazy measures to deliver their baby. Million dollars spent on the occasion. A vanity C-section to boot! What happened to good old vaginal birth with the celebs? Why not give it the old college try?

http://omg.yahoo.com/blogs/goddess/beyonce-birth-lap-luxury-192004098.html

I find it funny that the world still likes Jay-Z considering Nas informed us years ago he was a false idol.

Big Ten Looking in the Mirror

I just read an article about how former Penn St. players are giving up on their school and it made me cringe and also think (link). This is now a great time for some conference realignment! Let's have the Big Ten go back to 10 schools! I say F Penn St. (they are an east coast school) and drop Nebraska (lost its AAU status which is a big deal link). Let Nebraska go back to the Big 12 and force Missouri to admit that it is more of a Midwestern state than a southern state by staying in the big 12 too. Now the Big 12 is back to 12 teams (wow!). Now as for Penn St. let them join the Big East along with Notre Dame and then the Big East will be very relevant again. Now everyone is happy. You're welcome.

Pretty amazing.

Turn off the stupid priority inbox feature in gmail

I fuckin hate the priority inbox feature in gmail. It just marks everything as important. Here's how to turn it off. Log into gmail (duh), go to Settings (the little gear icon in the upper right hand corner), Mail Settings, then the Inbox tab, and where it says Importance Markers, check No Markers.

I already use filters anyway so this feature just gets in the way.
