The Cubs are bad at many levels (Duh)
http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prospects/ask-ba/2011/2612260.html
The Cubs had the worst draft class of 2005. I don't think our rankings would be much better in other years either. We need to take advantage of supplemental picks (received through offering arbitration to a player and having them reject the offer) as well as just evaluating talent to begin with. We need a huge philosophical change to occur within the organization in order to set ourselves up for continued success. I again offer my services as GM to the Chicago Cubs if they are willing to take a risk on a guy with a big heart and bigger dreams.

I posit that Cliff Corcoran needs to read my scoring document
Read his article here about who he thinks the AL MVP should be. (Hint: he thinks it is Curtis Granderson)
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/cliff_corcoran/08/22/mvp.granderson.fielder/index.html?sct=mlb_t11_a0
Here are his AL MVP candidates in order:
1. Curtis Granderson
2. Adrian Gonzalez
3. Jose Bautista
4. Jacoby Ellsbury
5. Miguel Cabrera
Note that Justin Verlander is only an honorable mention and Jered Weaver doesn't even make that list. He likes Curtis granderson because he is leading in RBIs!!! No! I firmly believe that the MVP should simply go to the best player in the league be it a pitcher or hitter, but let us focus solely on hitters at the moment. Using the scoring methodology we employ in the fantasy league here are you AL MVP candidates: name (points scored):
1. Jose Bautista (463.4)
2. Curtis Granderson (408.7)
3. Miguel Cabrera (364.1)
4. Jacoby Ellsbury (350)
5. Paul Konerko (345)
Justin Verlander is having an amazing season with a 2.31 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP. So is Jered Weaver who sports a 2.10 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP, but has pitched less innings than Verlander. Here is what the AL MVP rankings would look like if we included pitchers:
1. Justin Verlander (540.2)
2. Jose Bautista (463.4)
3. Jered Weaver (460)
4. Curtis Granderson (408.7)
5. Dan Haren (366.4)
I was surprised to see Dan Haren at #5, but he has 2.98 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP in 190.1 innings. If we allow the MVP to go the hitters and the Cy Young to the pitchers then your AL MVP this year is Jose Bautista and your AL Cy Young winner is Justin Verlander. I just thought this was an interesting way to test my scoring methodology against popular opinion.

2012 Fantasy Baseball
So last weekend we discussed the possibility of becoming a money league. I feel that this is a great direction for us. Not only do we get something tangible out of it, but it gives us more incentive to pay attention to our teams. Here are some of my ideas on how we should implement this (i'm basing my thoughts on having 8 teams involved):
--$50 buy in. I think $50 is pretty reasonable. I know we had talked about $100 but i think that's a little too steep.
--We have payouts for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. By having more payouts, the competition is a little more robust. Now instead of just having 2 teams battling for a payout, we know have 4 or 5.
--3rd place gets $50 payout. This way you at least get your money back. 2nd place gets $125 and 1st gets $225. Now obviously these last 2 would be adjusted depending on how many teams we end up with, but i think 3rd should stay at $50 no matter what.
--We keep Sawsheezle's scoring system instead of using default scoring. He's done an absolutely amazing job analyzing everything and coming up with a very accurate and pretty balanced scoring system.
That's about all i got for now. Please comment and let me know what you think. (Sawsheezle, put your boner away)

An introduction to Rocker-T
I have been listening to Rocker-T a lot lately. I thought I would share some links to his sound.

Speaking of Cubs people that (maybe) are leaving...
To start off, i decided to wear my Cubs jersey today.
So i wake up this morning, get showered, grab two chocolate chip muffins that my mom made me fresh this morning, and jump on the elevator to leave her building. As the doors open to the lobby, i exit and bump into a tall, well built, Hispanic man. I look up, and it's Aramis Ramirez. I apologize, he attempts to apologize in english. I say, "You're Aramis Ramirez aren't you?" He smiles and says, "Yes." I shake his hand and say, "It's a pleasure to meet you" and that "I've been a fan for a long time." He says, "Thank you." I leave saying, "Have a great game today!"
I hope i didn't jinx him.

New Plasma Appreciation Day Fur
So I ordered a new 55" plasma tv to replace my old 42" lcd. I had a nice deal at amazon with a 10% off coupon, some amazon rewards points, and the money I sold my old tv for so I didn't break the bank. The tv didn't get the message though and showed up busted. Here is what it is supposed to look like.
You have got to love those wild horses. Here is what it looks like in reality!
Now amazon is sending me a new one, but it will get to town while I am gone so I have to have them hold it until I get back. Also, I now have a dead tv sitting in my "living room" which is so big I can't put it back in the box myself. What a shitstorm.
